Movable type, the steam engine, and the World Wide Web (or Web) are what we consider the three most important technological innovations that have changed the world. Gutenberg’s movable type in the 15th century liberated and disseminated knowledge. Watt’s steam engine initiated the industrial revolution in the 18th century. Tim Berners-Lee‘s Web transformed the way people live and work. The Web is a remarkable technological innovation that symbolizes openness and sharing and is a passage to a better society.
We have devoted our efforts to exploring the Web’s influence on individuals, organizations, and society. We use theoretical foundations to understand human behavior and social phenomena on the Web and discern the practical implications of new Web technologies.
